WELLINGBOROUGH BY-ELECTION RESULTS

Results of the by-election for the Borough and Parish council seats held by Cllr John Bailey MBE, who died in July following a short battle with cancer have been published. Cllr Bailey had served on Wellingborough Council for nearly half a century, as well as serving as a county councillor and parish councillor. His wife Barbara Bailey was standing for the Borough council seat for the Conservative party and won with 758 votes. The results for the remaining candidates were: Stephen Ayland (Labour) 235, Allan Shipham (UKIP) 137 and John Wheaver (Liberal Democrat) 86. The turn-out for the Borough council election was 35.73 per cent.

Sally Farrell was standing as an independent candidate for the seat on Finedon Parish Council, and she won with 631 votes. The results for the remaining candidates were: Rebecca Haines (
